A QUICK NOTE

ON TIME AND MONEY:

You don’t start a project about Time without crossing over into the territory of Money. The ways in which these two function as forms of measurement (and how they are intertwined, for better and worse) is a rich field of inquiry, and one that we touch upon intentionally and often in the Library of Time Perceptions.

At this moment in time, the watches are for sale in the (historically speaking, relatively brief) currency of American dollars. Their prices reflect concrete material costs as well as the less-than-concrete costs of handwork, artisanship, schooling, design, research, and the continuing efforts of the Library of Time Perceptions.

This being said, we want to make sure that they are accessible to anyone that wants one. Our door is open to non-normative and flexible exchange - you simply have to begin the conversation: joslyn@theallwatch.com.

A Tevau (money coil) from the Solomon Islands. Made of up to sixty thousand feathers of the scarlet honey-eater, plant fibers and shells. They served as ceremonial currency in matrimony but were also used for trading commodities. Their production was the province of specialists whose inherited skills were believed to come from spirits.
